Gold mini actually has the best damage when you really need it (mid and late game) so it just seems like the best to me. Generally in TDS, earlygame problems can actually get solved just by better farming instead of requiring the most efficient tower. As for cowboy "No one cares you can solo fallen" is just a bad-faith argument.
