Sep 6, 2016 · Glad to read another revolver review. I love the snub-nosed guns. Personally, I like the weight/firepower combo of the Airweight in .38 special. I know .357 is more powerful, but I think .38 is generally good enough, and 15 oz is light enough for comfortable pocket carry. Regarding the steel frame snubby .357, I’ve got a Rossi 461 (6 shot). The average of their .357 magnum 5-shot averages out of the 2" gun is 1172.63 feet per second. That's a difference of 336.8 feet per second in the averages in favor of the .357 mag. That's still a big difference. But let's get back to this "fastest .38 Special" and "slowest .357 mag" loads out of the 2" guns.I didn’t have a .357 with a barrel as short as the 1 7/8″ barrel on my snub thirty-eight’s so I just fired the .38 Specials out of a 2 1/2″ Model 19. The magnums were fired from the same revolver.
